Tips For Your Upcoming Headshot
What do I do before the headshot?
For Gentlemen:
Clothing- Please wear what represents you. If you wear a suit jacket everyday, please bring one. Please bring a few tie choices. We can help you select the best one. If you are going with a casual look, please wear a nice solid darker color shirt (black, dark gray, red, navy, blue, green, etc). Please avoid light colors (white, cream, yellow, etc.) or shirts with loud patterns.
Hair- Please do your hair the way you like best. Getting a haircut and/or color a few days before is good idea. Hair editing is very difficult to almost impossible to do. If you have gray hair and don’t want it in your headshots, please address it before the session. Touching up gray hair takes a lot of time and therefore is an additional charge.
Facial hair- A nice fresh shave is a must. If you have a mustache or beard, please trim them so they look clean cut. Please check and trim your nose hair so they are not visible in your headshot.
Glasses- If you normally wear glasses and would like to wear them in your headshot, please consider removing the lenses if it’s easily done. Glasses often creates glare and if the lenses are thick, it will warp your face. If you have contacts, please wear them instead of glasses.
For Ladies:
Clothing- Please wear what represents you. Light colors tend to add weight and darker colors will make you look thinner. Please wear a nice solid darker color (black, dark gray, red, navy, blue, green, etc). Please avoid light colors (white, cream, yellow, etc.) or shirts with loud patterns. Elbow length or a long sleeve shirt work better than very short or sleeveless shirts. A suit jacket will provide a professional look. Please bring jewelry that compliments your face & outfit and that is not overpowering or distracting.
